Children's Ministries

Children are gifts from God. First United Methodist Church strives to nurture and educate our children in age appropriate activities and programs.

Rotation Sunday School

This program is for children Kindergarten through 5th grade.  The children study the same scripture text for eight weeks in different ways.  Children rotate through each of these activities:

Art

Computer Lab

Cookery

Games/Drama

Music

Science

Storytelling

Movie Theater

Each week is a new and exciting adventure.

Nursery
Our Nursery and Toddler rooms are located below the Sanctuary along with Children's Church School Classes. Sunday childcare is provided during all worship and Sunday School sessions. Every worship service has an infant and toddler nursery staffed by a professional and volunteers. 11:00 AM worship also has a Children's Church following the Children's Sermon. Age appropriate child packets with crayons and activities are available in the vestibule for use during worship.

Childcare for church functions is provided free of charge for functions, meetings and programs when meeting at the church. Class and group meetings away from the church may have a small shared fee.

Kids for Christ
A Wednesday afternoon program from 3:00 - 5 PM during the school year for kindergarten - 5th grades including recreation, snack, Bible stories, music and crafts.

Preschool
A five day a week morning program to nurture the needs of young children both in our church and in our community. The Newton Methodist Pre-School is an enriching and faithful witness to all of God's children.

Vacation Bible School
A summer week of great fun, Bible lessons and missions usually shared with other local churches. Dinner is usually served. Our theme this year is "Shake It Up Cafe" .  The dates are July 24-28.
