First Church News
The PPRC is pleased to announce that Dr. David Greene and Lara Williams Greene "Willis", are our new senior and associate minister. They will be coming to us from Gibsonville United Methodist Church. David is originally from Shelby, North Carolina. He is a graduate of NCSU with a degree in Textile Management. He received his Master of Divinity from Chandler School of Theology, Emory University and his doctorate from SMU. He has served at churches in Shelby, Winston-Salem and Gibsonville. Willis is from Dallas, Texas.
She is a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Psychology. She received her Master of Divinty from Chandler School of Theology, Emory University. She and David met at Emory. She has served at churches in Lincolnton, Winston-Salem and Gibsonville. They have two children -Elizabeth who is a rising fifth grader and Carter a rising second grader. Willis and David love being a clergy couple in the same church. They feel their strengths compliment each other.
Other information about the Greene family:
Elizabeth - goes by Elizabeth, finishing 4th Grade, loves to play the piano and read, was a member of the BOB (Battle of the Books) Team at her elementary school, enjoys American Girl dolls; likes to ride her bike and swim during the summer.
Carter - goes by Carter, finishing 1st Grade, loves basketball, the Carolina Panthers and watching ESPN. He also enjoys playing outside and riding his bike.
Lara - goes by Willis (a nickname she's had since 2nd grade; comes from her maiden name, Williams) grew up in Big D (that's Dallas, Texas) but loves calling North Carolina home, pulls for the Texas Longhorns, likes Mexican Food, scrapbooking, walking, and as a mom attempts to maintain sanity in a busy home.
David - goes by David (or honey when Willis is calling him) grew up in Shelby and pulls for NC State Wolfpack; enjoys reading and walking along the beach or hiking in the mountains; loves listening to bluegrass music and eating Shelby BBQ.
